Wessex AGM/Spring Meeting
On Tuesday 21st April members gathered at Tidworth Garrison GC for a day offering a mixture of educational content, regional AGM and a Stableford golf competition competing for the Secretary’s Trophy.
Greeted by coffee and pastries on arrival, the first presentation was from Carolyne Wahlen from Golf HR. Her quiz tested current knowledge on all matters HR including the some of the latest changes. 90 minutes flew by with lots of Q & A as member, so much dialogue that she couldn’t go through all the slides.
Next to share their knowledge was Neil Ballard from Club Conduct Solutions, providing some background of his past career in the Police Force. Whilst Carolyne covered the HR side, Neil’s insight into the world of disciplinary of members naturally aligned with some of the issues that Carolyne had spoken about earlier but from a staff perspective. The case studies he shared showed just how time consuming cases can become as they get blown out of proportion. His catch phrase of ‘It’s not what you do it’s how you do it’ emphasised the need to have a robust process in place. Very thought provoking!
Moving onto the AGM, all documents and matters were approved with the following officers voted in:-
Regional Captain – Alastair Baldwin
Regional Vice Captain – Andrew Rideout
Regional Manager – Ken Dooks
Regional Professional Development Ambassador – Chloe Boissel-Marshall
Regional Match Co-ordinator – Mike Allen
Natalie McColl gave a brief HQ update before moving onto lunch.
The afternoon was devoted to the competition for the Secretary’s Trophy which was going to have a new owner following wins in the last 2 years by Adam Stordy as he wasn’t able to attend this year. Numbers were lower this year with only 7 regional members playing. After battling a strong wind the players returned to the bar and the results were compiled.
